Shanti Wasi is a  tropical eco retreat nestled in the verdant jungle of Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. Beyond Shanti Wasi’s lockable gate, guests and residents alike can enjoy a two-minute walk down a hibiscus canopied trail and arrive at Playa Carbonera and the Carbonera River to enjoy sun- and-moon rises and walks along the rugged coast—all just steps from your door. We have three right hand point breaks in our immediate neighborhood: Matapalo, Backwash, and Pan Dulce, which vary in degree of difficulty from pretty heavy to mellow longboard waves.

We are a 20 kilometer (30 minute) drive south of Puerto Jimenez on the very tip of Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. A simple 45 min flight from San Jose gets you to Jimenez. The drive from San Jose is six hour. We are located in the Matapalo community / playa Carbonera behind Martina’s soda / Restaurant a 1 min walk from the Beach . We are right by the Carbonera river that flows in to the Golfo Dulce .
