Exploring the crossover between surf and song with jazz guitarist Peter Sprague.

Light / Dark

Peter Sprague has built a career around playing venues like Lincoln Center and touring with other musical heavyweights across the globe. He’s also spent even more of his life in the ocean.

“Surfing is so involving, you lose track of time,” he says in TSJ 27.3. “Music is also an opportunity to enter that space.”

In the mag, author Kimball Taylor profiles Sprague in an effort to see how he’s mingled and split his passions. That conversation continues in the video above, which was shot at Sprague’s personal studio in North County San Diego.
