A short film about the surf scene along Poland’s Baltic coast.

“Yes, there are waves in Poland,” Jason Locke writes in our current issue. “Its segment of the Baltic Sea is hidden from any open-ocean source of swell—Denmark blocks the rich Atlantic from getting in—so the coastline relies on windswell. Luckily, and unluckily, the place sees a lot of wind.”
“Ideally, you want to get to a spot when the wind is howling,” Baltic surf photographer Krzysztof Jędrzejak explains. “Because suddenly it will drop, and then you’re left with maybe one to two hours of perfect, clean conditions. That’s when the Baltic is magic.”
Enjoy a video teaser of a few of those fleeting “magic” moments above. For Locke and Jędrzejak’s full report, read TSJ 35.3’s “Welcome to Hel.”
