Super Crew

Dane Reynolds. Craig Peterson. Dion Agius. Three of the most high-profile surfers in the world, with access to everything performance-earned money and fame can buy. All the more reason to drop the trappings, get scared, and sleep in the dirt. An unnamed slab in Outback Australia was the call.

Light / Dark

Craig: “We’d been talking about going down there for six months. You’ve driven for 10 hours and you’ve had four coffees and then you paddle out in the dark. The heat and colors are raw. There’s dust in your eyeballs. You can only [take it] for about a week. It’s fun to embrace that and then come back to civilization.”
Respondek: “Dane’s not really a slab guy [below] and was a little hesitant at first. But he worked it out quickly and did pretty damn well.” Craig: “I whipped into that one [opposite]. Maybe John John or Dorian could have paddled eight footers out there, but it’s not normal. It sucks the whole ocean into the wave.”
Dion: “When Dane does his thing [opposite] he just goes 1000% at the lip every time. It’s heavy to watch. He’s psycho and so fast. The wipeout [below] was just me fucking kooking it. There were some lumps and bumps. I tried to hold on but got bounced through the air, just Superman-ing it.”
