DJ Javier’s program is one The Journal backs, and is something we strive to hit on in our own creative endeavors—in print and everywhere else. As such, we asked the Santa Barbara-based artist to lay down his treatment on a selection of limited-edition TSJ merch. The result? A bold, humorous, and playful take on wave riding that pops. In the process of crafting the designs, Javier invited us up to his studio for a walk through, and shared further insights into his many references—be they surfing, tattoo, or lowrider culture, among others—and how he blends them all together in an aesthetic totally his own.
