Society Islands airlift, French Polynesia. “Marlon Brando bought this atoll in the 1960s,” says Tim McKenna. “After his passing, an eco resort was built, which has become a popular retreat for the rich and famous. Barack Obama recently stayed a month to work on his memoirs. A perfect left-hander breaks along a bend in the reef in front of the resort. There’s no reef pass, so access to the wave is complicated. It’s one of the most exclusive, uncrowded, freight-train lefts in the world.” Photo by Tim McKenna.
