“The Andrew Kidman oeuvre contains many indelible moments,” writes Jamie Brisick in TSJ 34.6. “Derek Hynd playing the lip line at J-Bay in Litmus. Daize Shayne doing balletic things at the Pass in Glass Love.”

The filmmaker has rendered these two scenes into handmade, limited-edition prints exclusively for The Surfer’s Journal. Litmus is limited to 10 and is only available while supplies last.

Says Kidman: “Twenty years ago, when I was working on a cover for Glass Love, I started messing around with screen printing the Daize Shayne image onto watercolor paper. As the prints evolved, I began thinking about Warhol’s work. I love what he did with screen printing—the way he would print the same image in different colors and then set them side by side. There’s something about the repetition, yet each piece turns out unique because of the color switching.

“I haven’t made these prints for 20 years. As I began this limited run, I had to remember and unravel my process. Screen-printing is hard work, very technical, and so it’s easy to stuff up. I had to stay on my game.”
