In the early 1990s, three-time World Champion Tom Curren was in his competitive prime when he decided to leave the tour to join the Rip Curl Search program.

His free surfing and travel during this period eventually became the foundation for director Sonny Miller’s iconic profile film, which features Curren’s near-mythic first waves at J-Bay, his paradigm-shifting Fireball Fish session at Bawa, his famous hand-jive exit at Backdoor—all interlaced with 38-minutes of fast, powerful, and technical rail surfing that transcends time.
